Trusted SDS Authoring for More Than 40 Years

Safety Data Sheet Services for Chemical Products

Dell Tech has specialized in Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring since the early 1980s, supporting chemical and specialty product manufacturers across North America with fully compliant 16-section SDSs based on GHS standards and region-specific content for Canada, the United States, Mexico, or combined North American markets. For more than four decades, our expert team has stayed current with evolving regulations to deliver fully customized SDSs, offering bilingual and trilingual formatting (English, Canadian French, and Spanish), custom branding, and complimentary GHS-compliant workplace labels for hazardous products.

Why Safety Data Sheets Are Essential for Compliance

A Safety Data Sheet communicates a product’s physical, chemical, and environmental hazards, and outlines how to store, handle, and transport the product safely. SDSs are legally required for hazardous products and must follow the 16-section GHS format adapted to each country’s rules.
Although Canada and the U.S. both follow the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), each country enforces its own version with distinct formatting, language, and regulatory inclusions.

SDS Requirements: Canada vs. United States

Canadian SDSs (WHMIS 2015/ 2022)

Canadian SDSs must comply with Schedule 1 of the Hazardous Products Regulations (WHMIS 2015). They are required to be bilingual (English and Canadian French) and reviewed whenever formulation changes occur or new hazard data is available.

U.S. SDSs (OSHA HCS 2012/ 2024)

U.S. SDSs must follow the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Appendix D of 29 CFR 1910.1200 provides detailed guidance on required sections and formatting. Additional state-level rules such as California Prop 65 and Right-to-Know laws may apply.

How Dell Tech Can Help with SDS Authoring

We begin with a full regulatory review of your product and its intended use. Our team classifies the product appropriately, identifies all applicable compliance standards, and authors a compliant SDS.

This process includes checks for:
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)
CEPA (DSL/NDSL)
TSCA inventory compliance
GHS hazard classification
State Right to Know Legislation
California Proposition 65

SDSs are provided in your required format (Canada, U.S., or combined) and available in English, Canadian French, and Spanish.

Why SDS Accuracy Matters

Accurate SDSs are essential for worker safety, regulatory compliance, and transportation control. Incorrect or missing data can lead to workplace incidents, shipping penalties, or national enforcement actions. Dell Tech ensures your documentation supports regulatory inspections and buyer confidence.

Supporting SDS Services

GHS Testing

We determine product hazard classification using validated methods to support accurate SDS content, supporting safe use, handling, and shipping.

Technical Translations &
Regulatory Transposition

We translate and localize SDS content into Canadian French or Spanish with strict adherence to regulatory terms and labeling guidelines for each jurisdiction.

SDS Review &
Gap Analysis

If you already have an SDS, we can review it to identify compliance gaps and advise on necessary revisions before market release or regulatory submission.

HMIRA Trade
Secret Applications

A Hazardous Materials Information Review Act (HMIRA) trade secret application allows Canadian manufacturers, distributors, or importers to produce confidential business information such as ingredient identities or concentrations on SDSs.
